William A. Ross, M.D.
Dr. William A. Ross is a Plastic Surgeon who grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. He performs the full spectrum of Plastic Surgery, including aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Ross performs brow lifts, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), face lifts, neck rejuvenation and reconstruction of the eyelids, nose, cheeks and ears after cancer surgery. He has extensive experience in breast enhancement, breast reconstruction, and body contouring, which includes liposuction, abdominoplasty (“tummy tuck”), and rejuvenation of the arms, legs and hands. Dr. Ross utilizes traditional and cutting edge therapies to deliver the best results possible.
Dr. Ross graduated with honors from the University of Missouri with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. He then worked in the Clinical Trials Unit at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City before beginning work at the National Institutes of Health. His scientific work was published in one of the most prestigious scientific journals in the world, Nature Medicine, and in several other peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Dr. Ross then attended medical school at the Howard University College of Medicine, where he was awarded both the Howard University Trustee Scholarship and the Academic Achievement Award, and was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society. He completed postdoctoral clinical research in the Transplant Division of the University of Miami, hoping to gain a better understanding of immune responses to transplanted tissue, and to enhance his understanding of the immune system and tissue healing.
He then proceeded to his internship in Surgery at the University of Nevada. He went on to complete his residency training in General Surgery at the University of South Carolina. Following his General Surgery residency, Dr. Ross completed his fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia. It was during this fellowship that he honed his technical skills and learned to perform the full complement of plastic surgical procedures. It was also where he cultivated his specific interest in aesthetic surgery. Dr. Ross helped to author a paper on the use of fat transfer techniques to rejuvenate the face and has also employed these fat transfer techniques for improving the appearance of the breasts, buttocks and extremities.
Following the completion of his plastic surgery training, he and his family moved to Charleston, West Virginia. He began work at the Charleston Area Medical Center where he still holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Dr. Ross was appointed to several leadership roles during his tenure there, including the Breast Program Leadership Committee, the Women & Children’s Hospital Operating Room Committee, Clinical Initiatives Committee and others. He was selected for the Heart & Soul Award in recognition of his exemplary performance.
Dr. Ross’s philosophy is best summarized by his own statements: “My belief is that patients should be treated as if they were members of my own family. I always strive to provide the best care possible, using all of my skills to deliver excellent results. Whether it is a simple botox injection or complex breast reconstruction, I want my patients to be happy that they chose me to be their doctor.”
In his spare time, Dr. Ross enjoys spending time with his family, drawing, sculpting and traveling. He enjoys participating in sports. He plays soccer, golf, tennis and has been a competitive sailor. Moving to Naples is the fulfillment of a dream to relocate to south Florida, where he can spend most of his time outdoors when he is not serving his patients.
